HAYATO KURIHARA

We’re glad to welcome Dr. Hayato Kurihara to EST Congress 2025, 10–14 November in Bucharest. Graduated from the State University of Milan, he is Director of the Emergency Surgery Unit at IRCCS Fondazione Ca’ Granda Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico of Milan and Adjunct Professor at the same university.

Dr. Kurihara has led and served in key professional societies, including President of the European Society for Trauma and Emergency Surgery (2022–2023), Vice President of the Italian Society for Emergency Surgery and Trauma, and Secretary Treasurer of the International Association for Trauma Surgery and Intensive Care. He is an Honorary Fellow of the European Board of Surgery (Emergency Surgery) for UEMS, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and an Honorary Fellow of the Kosovo College of Surgeons.

An active educator, he teaches ATLS, point-of-care ultrasound, Definitive Surgery Trauma Care and the Emergency Surgery Course. His main focus is acute care surgery and trauma, with a special interest in critical and frail patients as well as non-technical skills, teamwork and leadership in the surgical environment.
